Since Heidi knows nothing about her past, she goes on a quest to find out what “soof” means and who her family and mom really is.

Characters

Heidi It is a twelve year old girl who knows nothing about her past. She is very lucky when she does the lottery tickets or tries the slots.

She has a mom with a bum brain who always says the word "soof". She came from Liberty, New York from Hilltop Home.

Bernadette is a woman who has taken care of Heidi and Mama for a long time.  She is Mama and Heidi's neighbor. She has agora phobia which doesn't let her go outside her doorstep.

Thurman Hill is Heidi's grandfather. He is the director of Hilltop Home.

Elliot is Heidi's father. He also has a bum brain.

Setting
They all live in Reno, Nevada in the twenty first century.

Conflict
Heidi knows nothing about her past and she has to find out about it.

Theme

The theme of this story is to never give up. Heidi persists and continues to work hard to discover her past. This makes me understand and take in accoutrements that you have to do anything and everything to acquire what you truly desire.

Plot

EXPOSITION
Heidi introduces herself and the world she has known.
She explains Mama’s use of the word “soof”.

RISING ACTIONS

Heidi discovers an old camera and a red sweater while cleaning. This is her "key to knowing who she is".  The pictures in the camera show her about Hilltop Home, Grammy and Thurman Hill

Heidi decides to go to Liberty to talk to Thurman Hill and discover her past.

She goes in bus and meets two very special women who agree in pretending to be Heidi's mother (Heidi is too young to travel alone in bus).

She arrives in Liberty and meets Elliot in Hilltop Home. She also meets Ruby, a woman who will take care of her during her stay in Liberty.

CLIMAX

She discovers her past while talking to Thurman Hill

Mama dies back in Reno with Bernadette.

FALLING ACTIONS and RESOLUTION

Mama's funeral

Heidi stays in Reno with Bernadette.

New title to book

I would rename the book to Soof because the whole story revolves around that word. Heidi does that quest to find the meaning of that mysterious word.

Connections Made

I connected Heidi’s frustration towards not knowing an answer and not knowing how to figure it out to myself trying really hard to find something out and not knowing how, where nor when to get it.

I also connected Bernadette to Ruby because they are both patient, nice women who have the amount of toleration needed to work with mentally challenged people.

I corrected the time I misused the word WHO, THAT or WHICH in orange.

  1. Your writing is very mature and you have very few overall errors. The hints I can give you are to work on choosing exact verbs and verb tenses, and watch out for how you use prepositions.
